OAK KITCHEN A Alfriston, East Sussex
This project was the second stage of a conversion creating
a new space to accommodate a large family kitchen with access to the front hall, dining room, breakfast room and gardens.
On this occasion the client wanted to link the “L” shaped space using an island, but to avoid having a huge obstacle
in the middle of a room, we implied the continuity of the island shape whilst leaving gaps to allow for easy flow of movement. A bespoke oak breakfast table extended the island into the breakfast room.
All the joinery was worked carefully around existing wooden beams. European Oak was chosen for the cabinets, finished with honed African Black Granite work surface.
The design and quality of craftsmanship was highly
recommended for a Sussex Heritage Award in 2009.
